Technology: Purchasing Video Editing Equipment on a Small Budget

Sponsered by LRSSports

Q: How can we improve the quality of our video tape as we make copies for highlight films and season tapes?
- Ray Kumpula, Head Coach,
Glenrock High School, Glenrock, Wyo.

A: The best way to maintain the quality of duplicating videos is to digitize the master video tape onto a computer. When capturing video onto a computer, make sure you are using a quality capture card and an acceptable compression rate. Your vendor can make suggestions regarding this. Most video editing systems now include some type of software for making highlight videos. Annual cleaning and maintenance of your tape decks is also important.
