Technology: The Basics

Sponsered by LRSSports

Q: What kind of laptops would a program like ours use, and how much do they cost? What kind of projectors would you recommend and how much do they cost? What kind of system is needed to run the video through the computer?
Jeff Guerette, Husson College
Bangor, Maine

A: The laptop we suggest is the Dell Latitude C840 with some minimum requirements and some extra hardware: a secondary internal hard drive, an external hard drive for additional storage, a firewire card and an analog/digital converter box. Many schools get educational discounts; the cost for this will be around $3,000.

There are many good projectors available but the one we sell the most is the Sony VPL-CS5; the cost for this is around $1,500.

To take advantage of the LRSSports Gamer Firewire solution, you will need Windows XP for your operating system.
