I still marvel at the almost daily improvements in communication. The advances in technology can boggle the mind. Just think about ‘Google’ for example; it’s an instantaneous research tool for any one working on a term paper to an editor helping fact check a magazine for football coaches.

With the almost hourly advances in this field, we are proud to announce AFM’s new and vastly improved web site: AmericanFootballMonthly.com. As AFM is the #1 resource for football coaches, our updated web site is now the largest web site for football coaches.

When visitors first notice the web site, you will see a visually pleasing site with a new look and navigation system. This new look is enhanced by a creative design, which takes advantage of current technology by using style sheets to develop a consistent look across pages. The navigation itself has been completely reorganized with two new navigation bars defining the main area of the site.

What it means, for you, includes these changes:

• New and easier ways to find articles, clinics and drills. The complete table of contents is included for every issue.

• Easier access to articles on specific categories whether they be on a coach or a type of offense or defense.

• A new back issues configuration that will enable a user to find a specific article on a certain subject. Users can now search the updated database.

• AFM news – a daily update from articles around the country on the coaching profession is included. Also new to the web site is a free articles index, job zone with resume manager, message board content with article comments and coaching discussions. This includes a classified jobs section.

• By way of a crawl, information on both the current and upcoming issues is listed.

A viewer can also look at a listing of over 100 coaching videos, taped radio broadcasts and a total of over 4000 pages from the magazine online in an easily searchable database. Each article is labeled by a specific category.
Nearly a year in the making, the vastly improved web site is the result of some dedicated professionals. Starting with Sam Leppinen, now a publisher in his own right, the contributors included Internet Director Charlotte Vann, Customer Services Coordinator Karen Sullivan and Information Technology Director Mark Taylor. We’d like to hear from you about the web site and how we can continue to improve it.
Thirty years ago, when I was at NBC Sports in New York, we just started using the fax machine. Twenty years ago, when I worked at Turner Broadcasting, the cell phone was becoming a popular item. While at Conference USA in Chicago a decade ago, the computer was making its mark. I can’t imagine what the world will be like in 2016.
We hope you enjoy this issue of AFM.

                            Respectfully,
