In a recent AFM subscriber survey, the question was asked: ‘What would you like to see at www.AmericanFootballMonthly.com that is not currently offered?’ A number of responses asked about video features and, more specifically, including video on the web site that corresponded to articles published in AFM. Some of the responses included:

‘You guys keep in mind that football coaches are football junkies.
We can’t get enough. Videos of stuff would be a nice addition to the web site.’

‘I’d like to see video related to the offensive, defensive, special teams articles.
That is, short clips of the particular clinic topic in action on the field.’

‘Let’s see video clips connected to current article and/or live action demonstrations of strategies and techniques.’

In recent issues we’ve been able to correlate editorial with video features. This includes clinic articles and drills reports combined with on-field instructional video features available free at www.AmericanFootballMonthly.com. Two examples are Jackson State’s ‘Motion Offense’ clinic in the August issue and TCU’s ‘Zone Play Concepts and Techniques’ in the September issue.

Two articles in this issue also include a video component. Eric Driskell is the offensive line coach at Blue Valley High School in Stilwell, KS. He writes specifically about the ‘Inside Zone Read: Three Ways To Combat the Games Defenses Play’ in his clinic article on page 34. In doing so, he gives an overview (sidebar) of one of the most unique techniques in offensive line play today: the ‘Square Pull’ technique. You can watch Coach Driskell teach this technique and see game film at www.AmericanFootballMonthly.com. Likewise, the strategy behind Coach Mark Hudspeth’s North Alabama offense is featured. His mission is to ensure that the best athletes on his team – UNA’s playmakers – touch the ball a specific number of times per game. Corresponding video includes three unique drills and techniques: 1.Coach Hudspeth’s Pre-Practice Rapid Fire Drill which involves the center and QB exchange with rapid throws to the wide receivers. 2. Running Back Footwork for the Inside Zone – a unique concept that Coach Hudspeth teaches to have his running backs be more effective. 3. Quarterback Pitch Fundamentals – do you prefer a thumbs down or basketball style pitch? Coach Hudspeth gives his view and instruction on this subject.

We hope you enjoy this issue of AFM.

Respectfully,
