In just over a month, AFM University will be producing the first of four weekend clinics. The initial one is in St. Paul (February 7-8) followed by Indianapolis (February 15-16) then Dearborn (February 22-23) and concluding in Kansas City (February 29-March lst). In addition to a combination of national, regional and local speakers, each clinic will have a unique aspect to it: Point-Counterpoint.

American Football Monthly introduced the ‘Point-Counterpoint’ series to the magazine in 2006. Each month two coaches went head-to-head on a specific or unique situation. An offensive coach gave his strategy and then a defensive coach countered. Some of the topics included::

• Defending The Two Minute Offense

• Third and Five In the Red Zone

• Goal Line Offense vs. Defense

• The Rocket Sweep vs. The 4-4 Defense

• The Spread Offense vs. the 3-3 Stack Defense

• Quarterback Read vs. Defending The Inside Zone

Now, Point-Counterpoint will be a part of each AFM University clinic in 2008. In addition to detailed sessions on offense, defense, special teams, athletic performance and management, coaches will participate in debating specific subjects. You won’t want to miss any Point-Counterpoints. For a full listing of Point-Counterpoint sessions, go to AFMUniversity.com.

Just added to the list of speakers are USF head Coach Jim Leavitt (Kansas City), New Mexico State Head Coach Hal Mumme (St. Paul), Grand Valley State Head Coach Chuck Martin (Dearborn) and Illinois Head Coach Ron Zook (Indianapolis). The Illini had the biggest turnaround in 2007 among all 119 Bowl Subdivision colleges. They improved from 2-10 to 9-3, a + 7 differential.

Registration is fast and easy. You can also go online at www.AFMUniversity.com or call Karen Sullivan in at our AFM offices (561-355-5068 Option 1). All of us look forward to seeing you in 2008.

Respectfully,
