Coach Kill is in his first season at NIU after turning the program around at Southern Illinois

Q1-As you began your coaching career, who was your mentor(s) as a young coach?

Coach Dennis Franchione and Coach Chuck Broyles at Pittsburg State

Q2-Looking back on your coaching career, is there one lesson you learned early on that has stayed with you?

Probably the organization of practice. That's where you win is the organization of practice. What you get out of practice during the week shows up in the games. I learned that from Coach Fran.

Q3-As a head coach, is there a pet peeve that you have as it relates to the business?

This game has been way too good to me to ever complain about anything.

Q4-What is the greatest satisfaction you have in being a head coach?

Working with the assistant coaches which I have had continuity with over the years and working with the players and seeing them develop daily.

Q5-If you could keep only one item in your office, what would it be?

Pictures of my family - they are the reason I am where I am today.
