I coach QBs and would like to learn everything I can about coverages; including the newer hybrid/combo coverages.
Please recommend a book that does a good job explaining coverages, linebacker and defensive back responsibilties, weaknesses, strengths, etc. I'm not a rocket scientist; the easier to understand the better.

We are installing the Run and Shoot with no motion from a two Tight End set with trips. Can anyone warn against any potential problems we will face? Thanks for any help.

Coaches....
I'm looking for advice on blocking the "midline option" vs. a 6-1 or goalline def. If the def.tackle is inside shade of the PSG, should the guard block him or try to get to the linebacker?
If he does take the guard, who then blocks the linebaker. We are in a one-back set.
Thanks for any help.

I am having difficulties relating to an athletic director that has never coaached a day in his life. He believes that lining the field, taking care of inventory etc. is the responsibility of the football coaching staff. I have been at the same school for 24 years and cannot get through to this guy. Any advice from other AD's or coaches?

I am first time defensive coordinator, and we have changed from a base 50 defense to a 46 defense.
We need some help setting up our defense playbook or a copy of a good high school 46 defensive playbook on alinement vs. formations and techniques for each position. Also one that has a good blitz and stunt package.
We have all Rex Ryans' tapes, Playbooks, other 46 playbooks ( Michigan State, Chicago Bears, Eagle 5 linebacker- L.A Rams, ect ), Steve Sazbo's tape, and pro tapes of the 46.
It is really overwhelming us and we are running out of time! So if you have experience with the 46 defensive package, please give us a hand. We will pay for copying, and shipping. We will share anything we have with you.

What have you offensive genuis's come up with now against the defensive "zone blitz" that we are all see now. How have you being teaching you QB's to read the defense because has you all know the "hot" reads as before have now been thrown out the window so to speak.

Thanks for any help or advice

I am currently the special teams coord. at a school in Texas, and I am looking for a program that I can draw my plays on the computer. I would rather not spend a lot of money for a playbook program. Does anybody have an inexpensive way to do this?

Thanks

I am in the process of trying to get 25-second timers installed at our field.
Our facility Services Department (Maintenance Dept) handles the duies of getting
the costs for installation. The electrical contractor they contacted for costs
gave an outrageous estimate of $18,000 to install two 4' x 4' play clocks.
I think Facility Services is trying to prevent me from installing these clocks.
Has anyone installed clocks such as these at your field in the past year or two?
If so, could you give me an idea of what it costs to install them (not the cost of the cloks themselves.
Thanks for your help

I am a 42 year AFCA member who has coached at every level--now retired and writing sports books--and still coaching in Europe. (You may be familiar with the "Coaching Football" book I did with Tom Flores. One with Al Groh will be out in a few months. I am doing a book on scientific conditioning for football. The sport scientists know that stretching sets an athlete up for injury and reduces his power. (Yes, as one who stretched athletes for 41 years, I couldn't believe it either.) I'm looking for high school or college coaches to join a research project. You can continue exactly what you are doing or drop or reduce stretching and add plyometrics or extra movement or strength exercises to your warm up. If interested I will send you preliminary chapters which tell you why stretching is strongly questioned (and is now seldom used by to sprint coaches in Europe.) If interested I'll send you some possibilities.
