Just a note for coaches thinking about coming to Germany to Coach. The AFVD has just put in new rules that will limit the number of American players to 4 per team. This will make things even harder for the shuffle game that already exists, because they only allow 2 american players on the filed at one time. We just had an bunch of american coaches leave and the reasons are clear. The Germans feel that they know the game and do not need Americans to help them anymore, this is why each year they cut the amount of players who can play on the teams that are not from Germany. They have even decided to limit other European players from playing in Germany. Germany has been playing for 20 years and they believe that they have now mastered the game of football. Gee, it has taken Americans almost 100 years to try to master the game and we are still learning, makes me wonder what the so called German football minds are thinking. Just wanted to relay this information from someone who has been coaching in Germany for 4 years and has finally decided that the states is where coaching football really means something, not here in Germany where the only thing the coaches care about is there own egos.
Players and coaches beware if you are thinking about coming to Germany, things are changing and it is not for the better.

This is a question that goes out to coaches i believe know the answer to this question, and would like some feedback from coaches in the USA, who are use to defending the Wing T offense. I myself as a D coordinator have stopped the Wing T with good success with the 4x4 stack and the 3x4 at the High School level. What have been your combinations for stopping the Wing T ? Please feel free to express your opinions on how it is done, so i can clarify to my European counterparts that the task is being done on a regular basis at our grass roots level in high school.

I'm new to this message board, so the info I'm giving to Jeff Stewart may no longer be necessary. John T. Reed's book "Coaching Youth Football" is one of the best I've read. He is a proponent of the single-wing offense (which admittedly I haven't used), and he goes into great detail about how to install it. He has also developed a defense specifically for the youth game he calls the Gap-Air-Mirror, which my team has used with great success at the 9-10 year old level.

Also, Coach Derek Wade has a pretty good site for coaches of the youth game at www.fbforyouth.com. He has some pretty detailed information on the wing-T and double wing offenses, among others.

Hope this isn't too late to be of some good.

I am looking for information from any coaches who have successfully run a "teacher on the sidelines" or "guest coach" program. We are looking to get some of the teachers in the building who don't seem to notice that we have a football team to show a greater interest. I've decided to invite a couple of teachers each home game to be with us. I'm trying to figure out how much involvement I want to invite people to have with us (do I let them bring a guest, do I invite them to team meal, when is it appropriate for them to be in the locker room with us, etc.) Any ideas or input from any coaches with experience with this is appreciated.
