We approach publishing American Football Monthly magazine much like you approach developing a successful football program. Like you strive to get better each game, we work hard and diligently to produce a magazine better than the last. Just as you recruit the best coaching staff and players, we search our industry to improve our publishing staff to build arguably the best coaching magazine in the world. As you spend countless hours traveling, working nights and weekends, we are too. Publishing American Football Monthly is definitely not a nine-to-five job.

However, unlike you, we don’t measure our success in state championships, million-dollar contracts or in the number of young men’s lives we touch each day. Unfortunately, our success is measured in the business world, but in the last 12 issues, American Football Monthly has experienced unprecedented growth – our paid circulation is almost 20 percent higher than it has ever been in the history of the magazine and we’re proud to say that more football companies advertise in AFM than any other coaching magazine.

This success has led us to expand our services into many other forms. In 2003, our partners at Championship Books & Videos began production on a new line of American Football Monthly instructional coaching videos due out next spring. We’re in negotiations to turn the “The Way It Used To Be” section into a nationally-released book. And if you have had a chance to watch ESPN’s new series “PLAYMAKERS,” you’ve seen our work on television as well – AFM worked with set-designers and wardrobe crews to ensure overall program authenticity. But the biggest expansion that we’ve taken to date is without question the launch of our latest coaching magazine, American Basketball Quarterly.

Yes, basketball. As the trade journal for the basketball industry, American Basketball Quarterly will mirror American Football Monthly and will be designed to inform, inspire and instruct the professionals working in the basketball industry by providing more in-depth, detailed information on the game, sport and profession than any other coaching magazine, Web site or coaching clinic.

To maximize the total effectiveness of our editorial, ABQ is equally designed to reach both the women’s basketball coaches and men’s basketball coaches by creating two separate editions – ABQ Men’s Basketball Edition and ABQ Women’s Basketball Edition. Both editions will be distributed quarterly in February, May, August and October with one special issue in July to a total of 20,000 basketball programs each issue. Both the men and women’s editions will have approximately 40 percent of the same editorial content with the remaining 60 percent being gender specific.

We will strive to make this magazine the one that steps up and becomes the voice of the basketball industry.

The growth of American Football Monthly is directly attributed to those who have supported American Football Monthly throughout the years, because without our subscribers and advertisers, AFM wouldn’t have survived the first year of publication, let alone celebrate its 10th year in 2004. Thank you.

Respectfully,
